# What is Kuru?

> An introduction to spot trading on Kuru.

Kuru is a decentralized spot exchange built on Monad. You can buy and sell tokens through an onchain order book, choosing the price and amount you want to trade.

## Trading on Kuru

Each market pairs two assets. On WETH/USDC, for example, you spend USDC to buy WETH or sell WETH to receive USDC. Orders match against available liquidity, with better prices executing first.

You can place a limit order at your chosen price, trade against existing liquidity, or provide liquidity for other traders. Your order's settings determine whether an unfilled amount stays open or is canceled.

## Accessing Kuru

These docs cover Kuru on Monad mainnet, with testnet available for integration testing. The public Spot V2 frontend is live for trading, including [One Click Trading](/accounts/one-click-trading). Developers can also use the [mainnet deployment](/deployments/mainnet), [APIs](/api/introduction), and [SDK](/sdk/overview). See [Getting Started](/introduction/getting-started) for network-specific preparation.

## Building on Kuru

The [API](/api/introduction) and [SDK](/sdk/overview) sections cover integration: submitting trades, reading market data, and building applications. Start there when you are ready to write code.
